On 5 September 2026, BUGS (Bricks User Group Singapore) came together for another fun-filled community gathering. It was a relaxed afternoon filled with LEGO building, games, plenty of laughter and, most importantly, an opportunity for members and their families to spend time together.
This mini gathering was packed with activities for both the kids and adults, while also giving us the chance to work on some exciting plans for the BUGS community.
Getting Our BUGS Community T-Shirts Ready
One of the highlights of the gathering was getting everyone involved in checking out the samples for our upcoming BUGS community T-shirts.
We had several samples available for members to see, touch and try on. Rather than simply choosing a design from a catalogue, we wanted to make sure we got the details right before committing to a bulk order.
Members tried out different types of materials and apparel to compare their comfort, fit and overall feel. We also used the opportunity to determine the appropriate sizes that we should order when we proceed with the bulk production.
And after trying out the different options, one thing became quite clear — the BUGS T-shirt looks particularly good in black and red!
The feedback gathered during the session will help us make the final decision on the material, sizing and colour options before we place the community order.
Mini Make and Take for the Kids
While the adults were busy with the T-shirt samples, the younger members had their own LEGO activity to enjoy.
We held a mini Make and Take session, where the kids were presented with a huge pile of LEGO parts and given the freedom to build whatever their imagination came up with.
It didn’t take long before the children were crowding around the pile of LEGO elements, searching for the perfect pieces for their creations. There were plenty of interesting and creative builds taking shape as everyone experimented with different combinations of bricks.
At the end of the activity, the kids proudly posed for photos with their creations before taking them home as a little souvenir from the gathering.
It was wonderful to see how a simple pile of LEGO bricks could keep everyone entertained while encouraging creativity and imagination.
Can You Build It? The Communication Game
For the adults, we introduced a fun communication game designed to test just how well partners could communicate with each other.
There were two different variations of the game.
Variation One: The Cardboard Challenge
In the first version, participants worked in pairs. One person became the builder, while the other became the instruction giver.
The catch? The builder had to rely entirely on the instructions provided by their partner to construct the model correctly.
The instruction giver, meanwhile, had to describe the building process clearly enough for their partner to understand exactly what needed to be done.
With no peeking at what the other person was doing, communication became the key to success!
Variation Two: Instructions From Behind
For the second variation, we decided to make things even more challenging.
We removed the cardboard cutout and instead had the instruction giver sit behind the builder.
The builder could only concentrate on the LEGO model in front of them, while the person behind them had to communicate the instructions without directly taking over the build.
What followed was plenty of laughter, confusion and some rather creative interpretations of the instructions!
From the photos, it was clear that everyone had a fantastic time with the communication game. It was a simple activity, but it highlighted how important clear communication, listening and teamwork can be — especially when you’re trying to build something together.
A Little Something for Everyone
To thank everyone for joining us, all attendees received a LEGO 30435 Build Your Own Hogwarts Castle polybag, along with the recognized LEGO Fan Community iron-on.
It was a small way for BUGS to show our appreciation to everyone who took the time to come down and spend the afternoon with the community.

Building More Than Just LEGO
The BUGS Gathering on 5 September was a great reminder that our community is about more than just LEGO sets and building.
Whether it was the kids creating their own models, adults struggling hilariously through the communication challenge, or members trying on the new BUGS T-shirt samples, everyone had an opportunity to participate and connect with one another.
Most importantly, it was an afternoon of building friendships, sharing laughter and creating memories together.
We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next BUGS gathering!
