LEGO and PlayStation are giving fans another reason to celebrate the arrival of the new LEGO PlayStation 72306, with the official reveal of a new Astro Bot model.
Set 40899 Astro Bot has been unveiled as a LEGO promotional set and is expected to accompany the launch of the new PlayStation set. The reveal comes just days after LEGO officially announced 72306 during PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast on 3 September 2026.
Meet LEGO Astro Bot
The 40899 model recreates Astro Bot, the lovable robot character from PlayStation’s Astro Bot franchise.
The brick-built figure contains 276 pieces and features several points of articulation, allowing builders to pose Astro Bot in different positions. The model also comes with a display stand, allowing Astro Bot to be presented in a variety of action poses.
One particularly fun feature is the ability to change Astro Bot’s eyes, giving the character different expressions.
A Perfect Companion to LEGO PlayStation 72306
The timing of 40899 is no coincidence.
LEGO 72306 PlayStation recreates the original 1994 PlayStation console and its original controller in an impressive 1,911-piece adult display model. It also contains hidden buildable scenes inspired by Gran Turismo and Ape Escape.
While 72306 looks back at the beginning of PlayStation’s hardware history, 40899 represents one of the brand’s more recent gaming icons.
This creates an interesting contrast between the two models: the original PlayStation console from 1994 paired with Astro Bot, one of PlayStation’s modern mascots.
Astro Bot Gets the LEGO Treatment
For PlayStation fans, Astro Bot is a particularly fitting character for a LEGO model.
The character has appeared across several PlayStation experiences, including Astro’s Playroom and the 2024 Astro Bot game. The latter expanded Astro from a PlayStation technology showcase character into a fully fledged platform-game hero.
LEGO’s version captures Astro Bot’s distinctive white-and-blue appearance while translating the character into the familiar LEGO building system.
The display stand also adds some flexibility to the model, allowing fans to recreate different flying, falling or gliding poses rather than simply displaying Astro standing upright.
At the time of writing, LEGO has not yet published the official purchase threshold or complete promotional terms for 40899, so those details should be confirmed before the promotion begins. Current LEGO news coverage confirms the model and its 276-piece count, while the exact GWP conditions and promotional period remain to be announced.
