LEGO is getting ready for Halloween with a brand-new seasonal Gift With Purchase (GWP), and this year’s freebie is taking a decidedly spooky turn.
The newly revealed LEGO Creator 40900 Scary Haunted Tree brings a creepy black tree to life with movable branches, a glowing mouth and a couple of spooky side builds. With 218 pieces, this little Halloween creation is designed to work both as a fun building experience and as a seasonal decoration.
A Haunted Tree With a Creepy Glow
The centrepiece of 40900 is, of course, the Scary Haunted Tree itself.
The black tree features a distinctive face with a wide, sinister-looking mouth. A red light brick hidden inside the model allows builders to illuminate the mouth at the push of a button, creating an eerie glow when the lights go down.
The tree also has movable arms, operated using a mechanism at the back of the model. This gives the tree some additional play value rather than leaving it as a purely static Halloween decoration.
Pumpkin and Crow Add to the Scene
LEGO has also included a couple of smaller builds to complete the Halloween scene.
A brick-built pumpkin sits alongside the tree, while a crow perches among its branches. Together, these details help turn the model into a miniature spooky woodland scene.
The tree’s eyes are also made using glow-in-the-dark elements, giving the model another spooky effect that becomes visible after the lights are switched off.
A Small Halloween Display Piece
Once built, the Scary Haunted Tree measures approximately 16cm high, 7cm long and 17cm wide.
Its relatively compact size means it can easily be displayed on a shelf, desk, windowsill or alongside other LEGO Halloween decorations.
It also fits nicely into LEGO’s growing range of seasonal Halloween sets. This year, LEGO has already released sets such as 40872 Halloween Pumpkin Lantern, which features its own light brick and glow-in-the-dark ghost.
LEGO 40900 Scary Haunted Tree is expected to launch on 21 September 2026, just in time for the Halloween season.
