BUGS Parts Sorting Day 2026

It’s Parts Sorting Day! BUGS Members Roll Up Their Sleeves for an Annual Brick Sorting Marathon

For most people, sorting thousands of LEGO elements sounds like a daunting task. For Bricks User Group Singapore (BUGS) members, it’s one of the most anticipated events of the year!

On 18 July, members gathered bright and early at Playground’s home base at Waterloo Centre for BUGS’ annual Parts Sorting Gathering, where a massive shipment of LEGO parts was carefully sorted and distributed to members. From tiny 1×1 plates to large specialised elements, every piece had its place—and every member played a part in making the day a success.

The excitement was easy to understand. Many members had been eagerly waiting months for these parts to arrive, with plans already in place for new MOCs (My Own Creations), large collaborative displays, or long-awaited upgrades to existing projects. As boxes were opened and bags sorted, you could hear excited comments like, “I’ve been waiting for these!” and “These are exactly what I need for my next build!” The possibilities were endless, and so was the excitement!

Of course, the day wasn’t just about sorting bricks—it was also one of the biggest social gatherings on the BUGS calendar. Members spent the day catching up with old friends, welcoming newer members, sharing building tips, discussing future collaborations, and showing off photos of their latest creations. There was plenty of laughter, lots of LEGO talk, and maybe even a little friendly bargaining when someone spotted a part they’d love to use in their next masterpiece!

The sorting marathon kicked off at 9:00 AM, and before anyone knew it, the day had flown by. By around 7:00 PM, the last bags had been packed, the tables cleared, and thousands upon thousands of LEGO elements had found their new homes. With the hard work finally done, everyone wrapped up the day the best way possible—with a well-deserved dinner together.

A special thank you to Playground for once again generously loaning us their venue at Waterloo Centre. Having such a spacious and welcoming place to host our annual parts sorting gathering made the entire process run smoothly, and we truly appreciate their continued support of the BUGS community.

It may look like a warehouse operation to outsiders, but to BUGS members, Parts Sorting Day is so much more. It’s a celebration of friendship, teamwork, creativity, and the shared excitement of seeing future LEGO creations begin with a simple pile of bricks. After all, every incredible MOC starts with the right pieces… and a group of friends willing to spend a whole day sorting them!
