BUGS Builders Welcome the Year of the Dragon
For the Year of the Dragon, the team took on the challenge of building one of the most beloved and auspicious animals in the Chinese zodiac. Symbolizing strength, prosperity, good fortune, and success, the dragon holds a special place in the hearts of many BUGS members, making this year’s mascot build an especially exciting project.
The build team consisted of Neo Chun Guan, Khor Chin Seong, Andrew Quek, Ong San San, and Chris Lim. Working together late into New Year’s Eve, the builders carefully assembled the giant dragon layer by layer. Unlike conventional models, large mascot builds require careful planning and teamwork, as each section must be constructed and reinforced before the next layer can be added.
Over the course of approximately two to three hours, the dragon gradually took shape. Piece by piece, the colourful mascot emerged, with builders working patiently to ensure every section was properly aligned and structurally sound. The process was both challenging and rewarding, requiring a combination of building experience, concentration, and teamwork.
As midnight approached and the excitement of the new year filled the air, the giant dragon stood proudly completed – a fitting symbol to welcome the Year of the Dragon. The successful build was not only a celebration of the Lunar New Year but also a reflection of the camaraderie and dedication that continues to make the BUGS community so special.
With the majestic dragon now complete, BUGS members look forward to a year filled with prosperity, happiness, and many more building adventures ahead.
