LEGO brings Tim Burton’s iconic 1992 Batmobile to life — complete with its spectacular Batmissile transformation
Batman fans have plenty to celebrate with the reveal of LEGO® DC Batman™: Batman Returns™ Batmobile™ (76355), a spectacular new display model inspired by the legendary vehicle from Tim Burton’s 1992 film Batman Returns.
With 2,269 pieces, the new set recreates the unmistakable elongated Batmobile design seen in the movie, including its distinctive bodywork, jet-turbine rear engine, opening canopy and detailed cockpit. It is also the first time this particular Batman Returns Batmobile has been recreated as a dedicated LEGO model.
The Batmobile That Becomes the Batmissile
The standout feature of 76355 is not simply its appearance — it’s what happens when you press the button.
Inspired by one of the most memorable sequences in Batman Returns, the LEGO Batmobile features a new transformation mechanism that releases the vehicle’s side panels and reveals the Batmissile, the narrow escape vehicle hidden inside.
A lift-arm mechanism allows builders to recreate the dramatic transformation, giving fans two ways to display the model: as the full Batmobile or in its compact Batmissile configuration. LEGO says this is the first LEGO Batmobile model to feature this type of transformation.
Packed with Movie Details
LEGO has included several hidden references to Batman Returns throughout the build, including six Easter eggs and a miniature version of The Penguin’s tracking device.
The model also features three new LEGO elements developed specifically for the Batmobile and Batmissile, helping the designers capture the distinctive shapes of the movie vehicles.
For collectors, another major highlight is the exclusive Batman minifigure, inspired by Michael Keaton’s appearance in the Burton films. The minifigure features a newly moulded cape and a new Batman cowl, and is presented on a dedicated display stand featuring the Batman Returns logo.
A Tribute to Batman Returns
Released in 1992, Batman Returns gave audiences a darker and more gothic version of Gotham City, with Michael Keaton returning as Batman alongside Danny DeVito’s Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman.
The Batmobile itself became one of the most memorable vehicles in the Batman movie universe, with its long, sleek body and futuristic appearance perfectly matching Tim Burton’s distinctive visual style.
LEGO 76355 captures that aesthetic while adding something that fans could never experience with the original movie prop — the ability to actually transform the Batmobile into the Batmissile with a press of a button.

The LEGO DC Batman: Batman Returns Batmobile (76355) will be available for LEGO Insiders Early Access from 1 September 2026, followed by a worldwide release on 4 September 2026.
